Stress Free Holidays!
Stress Free Holidays!

The holidays’ are soon upon us. Hard to believe but in the next several weeks many of us will do more entertaining and lifegiving than we do all year long.
It can feel daunting at times.
I would like to encourage you to see your acts of hospitality this season as a message you give others about their value. It’s not about impressing others with complicated meals and impeccable decorating… quite the opposite it is about giving those you love a message of comfort and care….that you have planned for them…thought about them…that you are literally loving others with your life.
Here are a few secrets to (relatively) stress free Holiday Season.
1. Enjoy your family traditional recipes but find ways to take short cuts. Maybe for dinner you will enjoy your mothers famous stuffing recipe but go to the store and buy remade pies
2. Resist the urge to spend instead of give
3. Don’t compare your Christmas with anyone else’s-and try not to compare it to the Christmases past.
4. Find one family to bless with a home cooked meal. I suggest you look for single moms whom often find Christmas a very stressful time…or shut ins that experience loneliness on a daily basis. Get your kids and grand children involved.
The reason we celebrate Christmas after all is that the world became flesh and dwelt among us---there were plenty of people who were less than perfectly prepared to receive Him. He came anyway. He changed the world. And that is still true no matter what we do and how much energy we have.
Be intentional this holiday to focus on God’s gift to us of His precious Son…and give gently of yourself and truly love others with your life!
